John Grise

John Ford Grise was born August 3, 1941 in White Earth, MN to Ford and Mamie (Pederson) Grise. He spent his early years in California and then split his time between Hibbing, MN and Waubun, MN where he attended Waubun High School. He served as a combat engineer with the U. S, Army, 1963 – 1965. Following his discharge, he moved to Washington where he worked for Boeing Aircraft. He later returned to Waubun. John was united in marriage to Kathleen Kemper, October 2, 1971 in Detroit Lakes, MN. They made their home in Waubun where he worked for Mahnomen Concrete Products, Abbot, Arne and Schwendt and finally for Eichoff Construction of Crookston until his military disability forced his retirement in 1976. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, card playing and dancing. He was also a wonderful story teller. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen of Waubun, two daughters: Aletha (Matthew) Kunz of White Bear Lake, MN, Marla (Dominic) Kunz of Fergus Falls, MN, ten grandchildren: Hannah, Riley, Samantha, Natalie, Zachary, Emily, Julia, Lydia, Samantha and Ian. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley LaDue.
