John Hartman

John R. "Jack" Hartman, 79, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, November 7, 2014 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Memorial Services for John will be held Saturday, November 22, 2013 at 11:30 AM in David Donehower Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. John known to many as "Jack", was born February 15, 1935 in Duluth, MN to William and Iona (Benson) Hartman. As a young boy he moved with his parents to St. Paul. After high school, he moved to California where he worked for Boeing Airlines. After a few years in California, Jack moved back to St. Paul and started Hartman Trucking. On March 24, 1983 he was united in marriage to Loretta Soland in Acapulco, MX. They made their home in St. Paul for 35 years. Retiring in 2004, Jack and Loretta purchased a lake home on Pelican Lake near Detroit Lakes. Jack and Loretta travelled throughout the United States. They especially enjoyed their Mexican cruises and trips to Hawaii. He also enjoyed auto body work, purchasing several vehicles over the years and rebuilding them. Jack loved spending time at the lake and a good visit with friends over a cup of coffee. Jack is survived by his wife Loretta along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Iona, two brothers: Bill Jr and Allan Hartman and three sisters: Nathale, Kathleen and Dolly.
