Joy Peterson

Joy A. Peterson, 69, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Sunday, June 10 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Pastor Jillene Gallitin, officiating. Friends may call 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Wednesday at David-Donehower Funeral Home and at the church 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday. Joy Annette Peterson was born January 5, 1943 in Des Moines, IA to Dorin and Ethel (Wothe) Anderson. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Cosmos, MN where she graduated from high school in 1961. Following graduation, she moved to the Twin Cities where she worked for General Mills. Joy was united in marriage to Ronald Peterson, September 8, 1962 in Cosmos, MN. In 1966 they moved to Maynard, MN where she did day care and bookkeeping. They moved to Truman, MN in 1975 where she was the office manager for Mel Carlson Chevrolet. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1985 where she was the office manager for Norseman Motors, 1985 -1988. In 1988, she began working for S J E- Rhombus where she held a number of management positions. She retired from S J E in 2001 and became the business manager for Center Stage Dance Studio. Joy also taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, gardening, sewing, the Thursday Morning Quilting Group at Trinity Lutheran, baking, going to Disney world, fishing at Devil's Lake and growing her flowers. Survivors include her husband, Ron of Detroit Lakes, a son: Ron (Lori) of Detroit Lakes; three daughters: Rachael (John) Ehresmann of Oak Grove, MN, Ranetta (Thomas) Hines of Barnesville, MN, Ronita (Russ) Hackel of Detroit Lakes, 12 grandchildren: Jordyn, Zachary, Joshua, Paige, Sara, Thomas Jr., Grady, Brock, Colton, Jaden, Hudson and Addison. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda, her parents and a brother, Gary.
