Joyce M. Lewis, 61, resident of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, September 30 at her residence and under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 5 at 2PM in David Donehower Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Joyce Melba Hord was born December 4, 1952 in Texas. She was raised in Moorhead, MN where she graduated from high school. Joyce was united in marriage to Thomas Lewis on September 3, 1982 in Fargo. Joyce worked for NDSU as a custodian until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1988. Joyce enjoyed being outdoors and everything that came with nature. She loved camping trips, a day out fishing and hunting. She had a knack for crafts, woodworking, along with gardening and photography. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing card games with special friends Darryl and Mary McKenzie and spending time with family at their lake cabin on Lizzie. Joyce will be remembered and missed by her daughter: Bonnie (Matt) Johnson of Detroit Lakes, two grandchildren: Brianna Johnson and Chase Johnson of Detroit Lakes and one brother: Gary (Colleen) Hord of Camas, WA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas (2010), father and mother-in-law: Arlie (Delores) Lewis.

Joyce Melba Hord was born December 4, 1952 in Texas. She was raised in Moorhead, MN where she graduated from high school. Joyce was united in marriage to Thomas Lewis on September 3, 1982 in Fargo. Joyce worked for NDSU as a custodian until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1988. Joyce enjoyed being outdoors and everything that came with nature. She loved camping trips, a day out fishing and hunting.
