Judith Mary (Wieck) Ford, 81, Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 at her home following a courageous battle with liver cancer.
She was born to Henry and Marion Wieck on October 15th, 1942 in Detroit Lakes, MN. Judy lived a life full of adventure and she had many talents that she shared throughout her life. When she grew up on Many Point Lake, she hunted and fished alongside her parents while managing a resort. She was able to bait her own hook, so in doing so she landed her husband Doug.
She taught school, did nursing, and worked as a beautician along with working as a licensed realtor. She also divulged her interest in crafts like pottery and making household ornaments. She was a very talented quilter with many projects completed.
Judy engaged her church family and was not afraid to show her faith. She knew that Jesus Christ was the only way to heaven and that it was very important to show that with almost everyone she met. We will forever miss her friendly smile and kind heart.
She is survived by a sister Janis (Harold) Brutlag of Maple Lake, MN, her son Christopher Ford of Backus, MN, her daughter Heather (Daron) Schleske of Rochert, MN. She has three grandchildren; Gary (Grace) Seawert of Dent, MN, Hunter (Megan) Schleske-Ostlie of Toledo, OH, and Forrest Schleske of Rochert, MN, a granddaughter-in-law, Sonia Williams, and great grandson, Hudson, and great granddaughter, Willow; her special cousins: Kevin (Vicki) Wieck of CA, Deborah (Paul) Marx of CA, Brian (Robin) Wieck of CA, and Allen Hagen of Detroit Lakes, MN.
Her parents Henry and Marion Wieck along with her husband Doug have preceded her in death.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Sanford Home Hospice as well as all of Judy’s friends and loved ones who have helped along this journey.
