Judith “Judy” Carolyn Nelson, passed away in Osage, MN leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Born in Detroit Lakes, MN, to William and Olvida Martinson. Judy grew up in a full household made up of 10 siblings, Judy being the 6th born child. Judy's life was a tapestry of beautiful moments and simple pleasures.
Judy united in marriage with Duane Nelson April 5, 1966 in Detroit Lake; a union to which six children were born. The couple settled in Osage MN where they raised their children. Judy dedicated her days to being a loving homemaker, finding joy in the everyday tasks of life. Her true passions lay in the kitchen, where her baking creations brought smiles to all who were fortunate enough to taste them. Whether it was whipping up a batch of cookies or her delicious homemade bread, Judy's culinary talents knew no bounds.
Beyond the kitchen, Judy found solace in the beauty of nature. She delighted in spending time outdoors, whether it was observing the birds flitting about or simply taking in the peacefulness of the natural world around her. Her appreciation for the simple wonders of life served as an inspiration to all who knew her.
In her free time, Judy could often be found engaged in a friendly game of cards. She approached every game with enthusiasm and a twinkle in her eye, making each round a memorable experience for all involved. She lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures by chatting with friends and family with her famous long phone calls, watching either wrestling or lifetime movies, spending time with her family or attending church. She has been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for numerous years. She loved the Lord and it was a part of her daily life.
Judy is survived by her three children, Karen Nelson, Jane(Dan Krogen)Nelson, and Kelly(Val) Nelson, grandchildren: Mindy(Matthew) Wilson, Brian Skappel, Jarin Skappel, Heather Skappel, and Krista Krogen, Karianna Krogen, Kane(Shawna)Krogen, Kaija Krogen__greatgrandchildren: Makayla Wilson, Lilly Wilson, Caidence Thomas, Haleigh Wilson, Karder Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas, Sophia Krogen, Brylee Skappel, and Colton Krogen and great-great grandson Grayson Wilson_,brothers, Dean Martinson and David Martinson and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane, her children Terry, Timothy and Betsy Nelson, siblings; Arlene Meyer, Ester Jorgenson, Helen Sidel, Douglas Martinson, Robert Martinson, Dale Martinson, Carol Mott and Marilyn Horner, parents, William and Olvida (Vange) Martinson.
Funeral services for Judith Nelson will be held at Shell Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church, on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 1 PM with Pastor Bill Meyer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Osage.
