Karen Eliassen, 75, of Cormorant Lakes area passed away peacefully on June 17, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN after a long illness.
Karen Elaine Johnson was born on November 22, 1945 to Harold and Ethelyn (Dorff) Johnson in Detroit Lakes, MN. Karen graduated from Audubon High School in 1963 and then moved to Saint Paul, MN for a short time before moving back to Audubon. She married Wayne Eliassen of rural Audubon on July 19, 1969. The couple were married for 15 years. She then met Eugene Schultz of Fargo, ND and were together until his passing in 2016. Karen worked as an accountant for Snappy INC of Detroit Lakes, MN for over 40 years and retired in 2007.
Throughout her life Karen loved to sew Barbie clothes for her nieces, cooking, planting flowers, canning, and baking Christmas cookies. Her famous potato salad and amazing chocolate chips cookies were at every family gathering. She was so good at sewing, she made three wedding dresses for her nieces. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children.
Karen is survived by her sister Sandra (Wayne) Jacobson; brothers Jerry (Arlyce) Johnson, and Jim (Sandy) Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; Eugene’s daughters Jolynn and Terri; son Charles; and his grandchildren whom she loved and cared for them all.
Preceding Karen in death are her parents Harold and Ethelyn Johnson; and long time partner Eugene Schultz.
