Katherine Bigbear

Katherine M. Bigbear, 60, resident of Detroit Lakes, formerly of Ponsford, died Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Golden Manor Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes. Katherine was born September 21, 1955 in Ponsford, MN to Frank Bigbear Sr. and Maxine Ennenga. She was raised by her grandparents, George and Josephine Norcross. She attended school in Pine Point and Park Rapids. After school she worked in housekeeping at various hotels with most recently at Shooting Star Casino. During the summer months Katherine owned and operated a traveling concession stand that was present at area Pow Wows. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially her grandchildren and attending Pow Wows. Katherine is survived by her son: John "Sonnyman" Bigbear of White Earth, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren along with one sister and four brothers: Sandy (Gene) Libby of White Earth, David (Bessie) Norcross of Alaska, Frank Bigbear Jr. of Duluth, Joe Bigbear of Minneapolis and Tony Bigbear of Minneapolis. She is preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents along with one daughter: Cassandra Norcross, one son: Richard "Weasel" Norcross and two brothers: Butch Norcross and Douglas Norcross.
