Kathleen Anderson

Kathleen A. Anderson, 68, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, March 12 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 20 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes with Pastor Jeff Teeples, officiating. Interment will be in the Holt Cemetery at Holt, Minnesota.

Friends may call from 12 Noon until 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Kathleen Ann Anderson was born January 11, 1942 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Clarence and Anna (Lapic) Smith. She attended Holt (MN) Elementary School and is a 1960 graduate of Newfolden (MN) High School. Kathy attended Thief River Falls Community College where she received her LPN training. She worked at St. Ansgar’s Hospital in Moorhead, MN; St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes and at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Kathy was united in marriage to Wallace Leland. They later divorced. She was united in marriage to Roger Anderson August 12, 1993 in Sisseton, SD and together they made their home in Detroit Lakes.

Kathy loved gardening and being outdoors. She was a wonderful listener, and much loved by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Roger of Detroit Lakes; daughters: Denise (Scott) Sellin of Hawley, MN, Denielle Leland of Fargo, ND and a son: Darryl Leland of Detroit Lakes; Step-daughters: Tereasa Popp of Apple River, IL, Joy (Donnie) Rousu of Detroit Lakes, MN Step-sons: Keith Anderson of Detroit Lakes and Richard Anderson of Detroit Lakes, MN. 3 grandchildren: Brandon, Hannah and Steven Sellin; 6 step-grandchildren: Nathan Graham, Kassandra Meyer, Brandon Johnson, Shyanne Anderson, Catlyn and Jordan Rousu; a step great grandson: Jackson Meyer; a sister: Jane Smith of Roseau, MN and a brother: Wayne (Margy) Smith of Newfolden, MN. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Dorinda Leland and her parents.. David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family. Memories may be shared at www.daviddonehower.com .
