Kathryn M. Dohmen was born October 31, 1923 in Leigh, NE, to Frank and Rosa (Korth) Dohmen. She attended St. Bernard’s Catholic School in St. Bernard, NE. She was united in marriage with Clem Foltz on February 14, 1946 in Leigh, NE. In 1950, Clem and Kathryn moved to Callaway, MN where they farmed and became members of Assumption Catholic Church. In 1959, they began Foltz Trucking. They later sold both the farming and trucking operations to their sons. In 1990, they moved into Detroit Lakes and became members at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Kathryn volunteered for a number of years at St. Mary’s Nursing Home. Kathryn enjoyed being a member of the Resurrection Choir. She was also a member of Christian Mothers and faithful church parishioner, going to Mass and praying the rosary every day. She cherished spending time with her big family, her trips to Nebraska to visit her family and her annual mother-daughter trips.
Kathryn will be remembered and missed by her five daughters: Donna (Bill) Martin, Jane Lunde all of Detroit Lakes. Rosemary (Bud) Janousek of Edina, MN, Sharon (Jack) Luftman of St. Louis Park, MN and Theresa (Tim) of Buffalo Point, Manitoba, Canada, eight sons: Jim Foltz of Minneapolis, MN, David (Carol) Foltz, Tom (Bev) Foltz, Frank (fiancé Barb) Foltz all of Detroit Lakes, Roger (Jane) Foltz of Callaway, MN, Monsignor Mike Foltz of Moorhead, MN, Allan (Kristi) Foltz of Callaway, and Ken (Helen) Foltz of Detroit Lakes; She is also survived by 40 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and son-in-law; Fran Esser of Redfield, SD.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Clem (2006), one daughter, Laura Esser, a granddaughter, Amanda Foltz, three brothers: Bernard, Harold and Victor and one sister Florine Herink.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to: Holy Rosary School, Hospice of the Red River Valley or to the Education of Seminarians: Diocese of Crookston, MN.
