Keith Smith

Keith D. Smith, 79, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died peacefully Sunday, December 15 at his residence. Memorial services for Keith will be held Friday, December 20 at 11AM in David Donehower Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Keith Darrel Smith was born December 12, 1934 in Frazee, MN to Harry D. and Emma (Kappel) Smith. He grew up in the Frazee-Vergas area on the family farm near Lake 7. From 1961-1962, Keith wintered in Florida with his parents and sister. Keith enjoyed his time in Florida and enjoyed visiting about those memories. In 1968, he moved with his parents to Detroit Lakes. After Emma died in 1983, Keith moved in with his sister Ramona and her husband Bob. Keith loved going ice fishing with Bob, bird watching, especially the cardinals that frequented their home, western movies and the Minnesota Twins. He always looked forward to attending a game with his friends and being present when the Twins caravan came to Detroit Lakes. Keith was a social person, some of his favorite places to visit with folks were McDonalds, Burger King, JcPenny's, K-Mart, Central Market and Norby's. He enjoyed listening to Andy Lia announce the Laker basketball and football games but most of all Keith really loved going to the meetings at Kingdom Hall, shaking hands, giving and receiving hugs from all his friends. Keith will be remembered and missed by his sister and brother-in-law: Ramona and Bob Lindblad of Detroit Lakes along with three nieces and four nephews: Lance, Deborah, Danny, Kelly, Michele, Sharon, Alan and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Darcy Smith and Quentin Smith and one nephew: Geoffrey Smith.
