Kenneth Zurn

Kenneth J. Zurn, 72, Fargo, ND, passed away Sunday, March 13 at Bethany Retirement Living under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 9 at 11AM in Assumption Catholic Church, Callaway. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will be held in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Callaway. Kenneth was born to Joe and Doris (Spry) Zurn on September 16, 1943, on his sister Ann's birthday in Detroit Lakes. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School with the class of 1961. On March 27, 1965, Ken was united in marriage to Ruth Molacek. They had two sons and one daughter: Edward, Bradley and Kimberly. On October 1, 1985 Ken was united in marriage to Shirley Olson and have resided in Fargo ever since. Ken was employed with Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years. Due to his health, he took early retirement. Ken enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, hunting, fishing, bingo, casino trips, happy hour and finch watching off his deck. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shirley, his children: Ed (Pam) of Clara City, MN, Bradley (Melissa) of Cottage Grove, MN, and Kimberly (Travis Taxdahl) of Fargo, ND, and special friend: Alan (Shelley) Anderson. In addition he is survived by seven grandchildren: Nathan and Madison Zurn, Joshua and Jacob Friese, Tyler, Mitchell and McKay Zurn, three step-granddaughters, siblings: Eugene (Sue) Zurn, Damian (Carol) Zurn and Joyce (Ken) Otto along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Ann, Cornelius, Ardell, Rod, Barbara Ann and infant sisters: Mary Louise, Mary Jane and Mary Mae.
