Kristie Zavoral

Kristie Ann (Clauson) Zavoral, 72, Ponsford, MN, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at home surrounded by family. 

She was born in Minneapolis, MN on February 27, 1951, a daughter of the late Walter Noble and Myrtle Lois (McQueen) Clauson.  Kris grew up in Brooklyn Center, MN and married Daniel Zavoral.  In 1976, the two moved to Vergas, MN where they raised three sons.  Kris worked as a para educator for the Perham School District for 16 years, and later for Central Market.  She also spent 5 years cooking for senior citizens in Pine Point.

Kris loved helping others; both at work and at home.  She was an excellent cook, although her family jokes that she didn’t start out that way!  Kris was a true caregiver and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Dan; her sons: Darryl Lee Zavoral of Detroit Lakes and Jared Lee Zavoral of Monticello.  She also leaves her sisters: Bonnie (Tom) Darsow of Brooklyn Park, MN and Laurie (Keith) Mikkola of Maple Grove, MN; her grandchildren: Sheyanne Butler and Nani Zavoral, a great-grandchild, Eris Butler, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kris was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Joseph Lee Zavoral.

The visitation for Kris will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10 to 11 AM at DAVID-DONEHOWER FUNERAL HOME, (609 US HWY 10 E., Detroit Lakes, MN 56501).  A funeral service will follow at 11 AM.  Final rest will be private.
