LaVonne Bonnie Storm, 63, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Saturday, May 2 at St. Mary’s-Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 11 at Bakke Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes, Reverend Tim Cook, officiating. Interment will be in Bakke Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
LaVonne Storm, known as Bonnie, was born May 28, 1945 in Detroit Lakes, MN to William and Alice (Livingood) Storm. Bonnie was a 1963 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School and attended Moorhead State College for two years; she then spent time in California. Bonnie was united in marriage with Wayne Kittelson, December 23, 1967 in Detroit Lakes. They lived in Omaha, NE. Following their divorce, Bonnie returned to Detroit Lakes where she operated a care home for the mentally handicapped until 2007. She had been a resident of St. Mary’s Nursing Home for the past two years.
Bonnie enjoyed the time she spent with family, working with crafts, including t-shirt art and painting ceramics. She traveled whenever possible and especially enjoyed time spent in South Dakota and California. In her younger years Bonnie enjoyed fishing the lakes in our area.
Survivors include one sister, LuAnn (Bob) Howe of Sacramento, CA; three brothers, Paul and his wife, Evie of Detroit Lakes, Harold “Harry” and his wife Pat of Bozeman, MT and Bill Jr. and his wife Elizabeth “”Libby” of Detroit Lakes; sister-in-law, Sharon Storm of Fergus Falls, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gary.
