LeRoy Caron, better known as "Pete", was born April 30, 1926 in Green Valley, MN to Levi and Blanche (Gregoire) Caron. He spent his youth in the Green Valley/Marshall area growing up on the family farm and eventually working on the farm. Following graduation from high school, Pete earned a degree in animal husbandry from the University of Minnesota in 1957. He returned to the Marshall area where he met Judith Arneson. They were united in marriage in Marshall in 1960. Pete and Judy welcomed four children, Jeffrey (Candy) Caron of Pace, FL, Cimberly (Randy) Melbye of Dent, MN, Leonard (Joann Boston) of Denver, CO and Leslie (Tom) Reich of Oakdale, MN, 7 grandchildren: Jenna Handloff, Trent Melbye, Tyler Melbye, Hannah Reich, Megan Reich, Sarah Caron, Joshua Caron; 5 great grandchildren: Eli Melbye, Isaac Melbye, Reznor Handloff,
. He is also survived by a sister: Yvonne (Richard) Tillmans in Texas and Harold "Butch" (Kay) Caron of Edina, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Pete spent many years in the agriculture industry working for GTA Feeds which eventually became Harvest States Co-op. After many moves with the company, they eventually landed in Detroit Lakes, MN where they stayed until his retirement in 1988. Pete and Judy served with the Peace Corps in Honduras 1988 – 1989. They moved to Devil's Lake near Perham in 1991 and, spent the next 18 winters in Las Vegas, NV where they worked as security guards and summers at Devil's Lake. In 2005, they retired from their security guard positions and began spending their winters in Mesa, AZ. Pete served on the board of the Pelican River Water Shed District and, for 20 years, operated the weed harvester on area lakes.
