LeRoy "Trapper" William Johnson, 87, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, November 21, at Ecumen- Emmanuel Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 25, at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. LeRoy was born March 27, 1928, to Carl "George" and Hulda (Gilbertson) Johnson in Lake Eunice Township, MN. He lived the majority of his life in Lake Eunice Township. He served his country honorably as a combat engineer in the United States Army during the Korean War. On December 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to Myrtle (Klemetson) and they made their home in rural Detroit Lakes. LeRoy was a passionate outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Myrtle; sons, Robert (Nancy) Johnson, and Larry (Barb) Johnson, both of Detroit Lakes; daughters, Bonnie Johnson, and Wanda (Lee) Herringer, both of Detroit Lakes. and Darlene Johnson of Rothsay; a sister, Margie (Lawrence) Reese of Kent, WA; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hulda; an infant twin sister; a sister, Shirley Tritten; and a brother, Harold Johnson.
