Lillian Shay

Lillian Bernice Shay, beloved mother and grandmother, formerly of Excelsior, Minn, passed away of natural causes on Monday, June 17, in Detroit Lakes, Minn. Lillian was preceded in death by her loved ones: husband, John Merritt Shay, her son, David Wesley Shay and her sister, Marit Birkeland. She is survived by daughters: Lynn Harrod and Carol Granger, son-in-law: James Granger, grandchildren: Thomas Harrod, Daniel Harrod, Lindsay Herman, Laura Klimek, Michael Granger, Kelly Granger, Katie Shay, Sonja Gould and great-grandchildren: Courtney Harrod and Blake Harrod, as well as one niece and four nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 28 at 1:00 PM in Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Avenue South in Minneapolis, followed by a reception at the Lakewood Reception Center. Friends and relatives attending the service are being asked to park in the main parking lot and gather at the Administration building to be led to the gravesite. The family requests that, in lieu of lowers, donations be made to either Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
