Lillian Thompson

March 5, 1919 — March 9, 2015



Lillian Evangeline Thompson, age 96, went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Care Center in Frazee, MN surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 14 at the Willmar Assembly of God Church, 3821 Abbott Drive, Willmar, MN 56201. A visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 13 at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will take place in the later in the spring.





Lillian was born on March 5, 1919 in Kandiyohi Township to Kristance "Stancy" Greenfield Hanson and Wilhelm Hanson. She was united in marriage on June 24, 1935 to Kenneth Eugene Thompson and they enjoyed 54-1/2 years together.

Lillian and Kenneth started their life together in Willmar and later moved for a brief time to Fargo, ND, before returning to Willmar and eventually to the farm at Kandiyohi where they lived until 1960. They resided in Bloomington, MN until returning to Willmar in 1972 when Kenneth retired. Lillian remained in Willmar until her health began to decline and she moved to live at Frazee, MN with her daughter, Sharon, and later at the Frazee Care Center.



Lillian loved the Lord with all her heart and demonstrated her faith through countless years ministering to children and constant care through many volunteer activities. She was a beloved member of three church communities; Willmar Assembly of God, Bloomington Assembly of God, and the Willmar Evangelical Free Church. Lillian was blessed with many talents. She was a gifted speaker, artist, tailor/seamstress, and gardener.





She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Edith; brothers, infant Clarence, Clarence, Erling, Joseph, Mantor and Morris; and two infant grandchildren, Doreen and Daniel Thompson. Lillian will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her sons, Paul (Meiko) Thompson of Oak Harbor, WA and David (Damaris) Thompson of Kisumu, Kenya; a daughter, Sharon (Vern) Rasmussen of Frazee, MN; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
