She grew up in Detroit Lakes and was part of the first class to attend Detroit Lakes Community Senior High School. After high school she attended St. Cloud State University where she double majored in music education and received her master's in studio arts. While in college she met her future husband Gerald Doebbert. They were united in marriage February 23, 1963. In 1966 their first son William was born, but died shortly after birth. In 1968, both Gerald and Linda taught in Stephen, MN and on February 15, 1968 they welcomed a son, Douglas Gerald. In 1969 they moved to Detroit Lakes. On March 23, 1970 they welcomed a daughter, Darla Rose. It was at this time, Linda transitioned from teaching full time to becoming a professional artist, where she cultivated a very prolific, award winning career. Linda's art was well known for solid foundation in realism, capturing scenes from northwestern Minnesota landscapes, branching out to sculpture and other mediums. Linda developed a reputation of an ever changing and evolving artist. Linda frequently taught through community education programs and was also involved mentoring young, new artists. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Jerry, including multiple trips throughout Europe and Mexico. Linda and Jerry were long time ticket holders to both the Minnesota Orchestra and Fargo Symphony. Linda also loved rollerblading, figure skating, skiing, playing piano, classical guitar and learning new languages. Although not religious, Linda was a very spiritual person, tolerant of personal differences and appreciative of human diversity, as demonstrated by her
self-proclaimed mantra, "Everything matters". She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She adored her three grandchildren: Sophia, Lila and Evie.
