Llewallyn E. Smith, 76, Lake Park, MN, formerly of White Earth, MN, died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Essentia-St. Mary's Health in Detroit Lakes, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 23 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in White Earth, FR. Andrew Sensenig, O.M.I., officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, White Earth. Friends may call from 4:00 PM Thursday until 10 AM Friday at the White Earth Community Center in White Earth and at the church 1 hour prior to the Mass. Llewellyn Edward Smith, known as "Dude" was born September 26, 1937 in White Earth, MN to Edward and Lucille (Bellanger) Smith. He was raised and educated in White Earth and moved with his family to Minneapolis, MN in 1960. He worked as a chemical dependency counselor for Hennepin County and for the City of Minneapolis, retiring in 2002 due to ill health. He moved to Bagley, MN in 2011 and to Sunnyside Nursing Home near Lake Park in February, 2014. Dude enjoyed visiting with friends, going to Pow Wow's and playing the drums. He is survived by a brother, Donovan and his wife, Fern of Detroit Lakes. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Waurine.
