Loraine Jordahl

Loraine Jordahl, age 91, of Vergas, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Oak Crossing on Friday, August 28. A funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Monday, August 31 at St. Mary's of the Lakes Catholic Church with a Rosary at 1:30 pm. A visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. Loraine was born at home, 14 miles south of Minot, ND on March 10, 1924 to Floyd and Mildred (Seney) Cline. The family moved in April of 1924 to a farm south of Sawyer, ND. Loraine attended school and graduated from Sawyer Public Schools. She graduated from the business school in Minot and went to work at the Russell Miller Milling Company. There she met Gordon Jordahl whom she married on August 5, 1946 at St. LeoA�A�s Catholic Church in Minot, ND. Eight children were born to this union. Loraine and Gordon then moved to Grand Forks, ND, Alberta, MN and then to the Fargo area. She retired from Central Auto in Fargo. She and Gordon built a lake home on Ida Blossom Lake by Vergas, MN and retired there in 1987. After retirement, they traveled to FL, TX, CA, AK and Hawaii. She collected spoons to remember her adventures. Loraine enjoyed her family and friends with lots of get-togethers, along with activities at both Nativity Catholic Church, Fargo and at St MaryA�A�s of the Lakes, Detroit Lakes. She crocheted baby blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren along with making quilts. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, making many pickles and canning tomatoes. She is survived by her children: James (Gail) of Detroit Lakes, Joseph (Coleen) of Fargo, Gary of Moorhead, Robert (Carolyn)of Pembina, Janet (Lloyd) Anderson of Alberta, MN, Stanley (Rhonda) of Fargo and Kristine of Vergas, 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Gordon Jordahl; a son, Steven Jordahl; a grandson, Jory Anderson; brothers: Eldon, Sheldon and Richard Cline; and a sister, Loretta Turner. The family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors for their prayers and condolences and also the staff of St. Mary's Oak Crossing for their excellent, loving care.
