Loren Birky

Loren F. Birky, age 85, Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Funeral Services for Loren will be held Saturday, December 29 at 11AM in Christian Fellowship Church, Detroit Lakes.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.  Interment will be in Lake Region Mennonite Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.

Loren Francis Birky was born May 11, 1933 in Bancroft, NE to Simon and Magdalena (Grieser) Birky.    Loren became active in the early years of Christian Fellowship Church in Detroit Lakes where he was a member for over 50 years.  He was one of the founding elders and enjoyed helping out at church in all capacities.   Loren enjoyed going to Rollag, MN for the Annual Steam Threshers Reunion and loved travelling the countryside.  During his working career he was employed at the Greystone Hotel in maintenance.   Loren resided at the Rivercrest Apartments and Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN for close to 20 years.  Most recently he was a resident at Diamond Willow Assisted Living.

Loren is survived by many nieces and nephews along with his entire church family at Christian Fellowship.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Lyle Birky and Wilford Birky and one sister: Anna Zehr.
