Lowell Douglas Nereson, 80, passed away on February 20, 2022, peacefully at home. Lowell was born on July 18, 1941, to Lloyd and Louise (Flaa) Nereson and was the oldest of three children. After graduation from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, he graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. He worked for 3M and UNIVAC after college. Lowell established Nereson Chevrolet Oldsmobile Cadillac in Detroit Lakes at the age of 33 and never looked back. He loved the car business and later expanded to Moorhead Big Lot and Duluth Dodge. He married Nancy Wick in 1981 and they enjoyed the beautiful Detroit Lakes summers and the green Florida winters. Lowell was a lover of animals and along with Nancy fostered dogs for the early local Humane Society. He was also a member of Detroit Lakes El Zagel Shriners.
Lowell is survived by his wife Nancy, siblings Gary Nereson and Paulette (Jerry) Moyer and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Louise Nereson, sister-in-law Gayle Nereson, and great-grand nephews, Mateo and Marcos.
A Memorial Service will be held at David Donehower Funeral home, Detroit Lakes, with interment at Gary Lutheran Cemetery, Gary, MN on February 28.
