Lucien LaPointe

Lucien J. LaPointe, 88, Detroit Lakes, formerly of Audubon, MN, died Saturday, July 30 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:15 PM Friday, August 5 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home Chapel in Detroit Lakes, Msgr. Timothy McGee, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the mass at the nursing home. Lucien Joseph Germaine LaPointe was born April 23, 1923 in Welland, Ontario, Canada. He moved with his family to Connecticut where he was raised and educated. Lucien was united in marriage to Patricia Kelly in California. They made their home in California where he worked for Astro-Tech Corporation developing and improving computers. He and Patricia divorced and he married Lillian Heddin in Oklahoma in 1975. She died in 2008. He moved to Audubon, MN in 2008 and to Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes in 2010. Lucien enjoyed metal detectoring, traveling, time with his family, collecting die-cast cars and airplanes and playing practical jokes on people. Survivors include daughters: Beverly (Richard) Mark of Audubon, MN, Melody Jennings of Anaheim, CA, Joyce Parks of Hesperia, CA, Paulette "Louise" LaPointe of Hesperia, CA, Frieda (Sam) Cauldavelli of Rochester, NY, many grand and great-grandchildren, three sisters: Martha Bourke of S. Windsor, CT, Theresa (Frank) Blonairz of Tolland, CT, Evelyn "Jackie" Culjak of Rockville, CT, two brothers: Norman (Leni) LaPointe of Rockville, CT, Joseph (Peggy) LaPointe of Ellington, CT; a sister-in-law: Florence LaPointe of Stafford Springs, CT. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Peggy Aparacia, a grandson: Joseph and 12 brothers and sisters. David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family.
