Lucille Mary Kidder was born to Frank and Cora (White) Morford on February 20, 1916 in Traverse City, MI. At the age of 100 her beautiful spirit left her body at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN at 7:45am of July 3rd, 2016 while listening to Hank Bowker from the Christian Worship Hour singing "Love Lifted Me". Lucille was raised by her parents Frank and Cora in the small town of Tustin, MI, population 400. Growing up in Tustin, Lucille played the piano and sang in her family's orchestra. This included her mother, father, three brothers and one sister who each played a different instrument. She loved to dance so much, which her father forbade her to do, that she would sneak out at night just to dance. Lucille graduated from Tustin High School and then attended cosmetology school in Kalamazoo, MI. Lucille's husband-to-be courted her by riding his horse in town, fast and straight at her, pulling to a stop at the last moment and then rearing up his horse. This approach seemed to work as she later married Jack K Kidder on August 15, 1938 in Tustin, MI. They lived in various towns in Michigan before moving to Hammond, IN around 1952. In 1953 her family moved to Munster, IN where she resided until 2001. In June of that year she moved to Detroit Lakes. She was the first person to move into Lincoln Park Senior Living, where she still maintained her apartment at the time of her passing. Our beautiful dark haired mother loved to play her Hammond organ, bet on the horses, play bridge, oil paint, teach French, which included producing the play "Little Red Riding Hood" for the neighborhood children. Lucille enjoyed watching her sons compete in swim meets, sitting in the sun, becoming a Cub Scout Den Mother, working for the Republican Party, playing golf, going to musicals and playing gin rummy. After moving to Detroit Lakes, she loved to write letters and send out cards made by her friend Kevin. Her good friends, Arnie from Indiana and Laksamee from Thailand were two of her favorite pen pals. In her spare time, Lucille loved to watch sports on T.V. Her favorite were watching Notre Dame football, Tom Brady, LeBron James, Joe Montana, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Novak Djokovic and also the Minnesota Twins. Mom loved life; singing, playing her piano, writing poetry, and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading her bible and talking on the phone, especially to her niece Brooke and her grandson Sean. For many years she watched the Christian Worship Hour, enjoying the music and gospel messages of Dr. Harold Salem. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister: Lillian McCowan, three brothers: Wayne, James and Leon Morford and infant son: Kirk. She is survived by her two sons: Jack (Nancy) of Detroit Lakes, MN and Jeff (Lynn) of Baxter, MN, five grandchildren: Larry, Kevin, David, Sean and JJ, six great-grandchildren: Grace, Katie, Kaitlyn, Andrew, Ruby and Lily and many loving nieces and nephews. Lucille will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schereville, IN. Memorials in Lucille's honor may be sent to the Christian Worship Hour, P.O. Box 2002, Aberdeen, SD 57402-2002
