Lucille Lorsung

Lucille Elaine Lorsung was born December 1, 1937 in Lake Park, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar and Inez (Nelson) Sandeen. She passed away July 27, 2020 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

She grew up in Lake Park and later moved to Detroit Lakes, graduating with the class of 1955. On May 4, 1957 Lucille was united in marriage to John Lorsung in Detroit Lakes. To this union three children were born.

Lucille was a homemaker caring for the kids as they lived in various communities in the Midwest. The family moved back to Ogema and she worked alongside John at Lorsung Hardware Store. Lucille returned to school receiving her LPN training at Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech and her RN Degree from Fergus Falls Community College.

She worked at Emmanuel Nursing Home and the V.A. hospital in St. Cloud before returning home to begin her long career at the home health department with White Earth Health Services. Lucille served on the White Earth Ambulance Service as well and retired from her nursing career in 2004.  Lucille was very devoted to her faith and taught CCD at Most Holy Redeemer Church and took part in leading many Christian retreats.

Lucille enjoyed gardening, spending time at Lake Sara, and following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. She loved all her grandchildren dearly and each held a special place in her heart.  She loved caring for her dogs, most recently her dog “Duchess” and her cat Jasmine.

She is survived by her children: James (Wanda) Lorsung, Janelle (Mark) Lundin, Joel (Stephanie) Lorsung; grandchildren: Jeremy, Geri, Dillon, Garrett, Tatum, Hannah, Katelyn, and Jocelyn; great grandchildren: Owen, Mason, Carter, Olivia, and Aiden; brother: James Sandeen.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents: Oscar and Inez Sandeen.
