Lucille Elizabeth “Dickie” Beaupre, 97, died peacefully surrounded by family members at her home in Ogema on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church of Ogema, with a time of gathering an hour prior. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday January 23, 2018, with prayer service at 6:30 pm. Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in White Earth.
She was born on April 4, 1920 in Beaulieu, Minnesota, to the late William and Charlotte (Kelly) Erb. She attended country school near Beaulieu and high school in Waubun, Mahnomen, and Cass Lake. Following high school, she worked at the Walker Sanitarium. She then moved to Minneapolis where she worked at the defense plant and later at Sister Kenney’s where she helped care for crippled patients.
Lucille was united in marriage to Paul Beaupre on June 20, 1946. They made their home in White Earth, MN, where they farmed and Lucille worked at Swift's & Company and later at St Mary's Hospital in food service.
Lucille was a kind and loving person whose family meant everything to her. She treasured time with her family, particularly enjoying family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a special love for flowers and took great pleasure in gardening, her yard became a special place for friends and family to gather.
She is survived by her children: Karen (Nels) Mortenson of Ogema, Cheryl Kjolberg of Waubun, Linda Gullard of West Charleston, VT; Joel (Ruth) Beaupre of Detroit Lakes; her daughter-in-law, Jean Beaupre of Fargo, ND. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 29 years, beloved son, William Beaupre; siblings, Wallace Erb, Elaine Hendry ,and Marvlyn Hyde; a granddaughter, Joelene Beaupre; a great-grand-daughter, Hope Rose Storbakken; son-in-laws, Rodney Kjolberg and Duane Gullard.
The family would like to thank the nurses, staff and care-givers at White Earth Health Service and the Hospice of the Red River Valley for their amazing care and attention given to Lucille.
