Lyle Donley

Lyle E. Donley, 95, resident of rural Ogema, died Friday, March 17 at Essentia Health in Fargo from injuries sustained in a farming accident. Funeral Services for Lyle will be held Friday, March 24 at 12 noon in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Callaway. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 23 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church from 5pm-7pm with a Prayer Service and a time of sharing at 7pm. Lyle was born June 4, 1921 in rural Ogema to Harry and Emma (Helliksen) Donley. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school at Riceville Township District 131. Lyle enlisted with the United States Army and proudly served his country during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to the family farm. Lyle enjoyed country life. He was passionate about farming the land and raising cattle and especially enjoyed training and working with horses. He retired from farming in 1983 but continued to keep himself busy cutting and hauling firewood for his personal use and also for others. He was an expert when it came to driving lessons, teaching several of his nieces and nephews how to drive. Lyle was proud of the fact he was an uncle, great-uncle, great-great uncle and great-great-great uncle. He was a longtime member of Beautiful Savior Church in Callaway. He is survived by his longtime companion, Helen, special niece and nephews: Kim Naumann, James (Betty) Tow and Harry Donley. He is also survived by nephews: Donald (Joann) Donley, Daniel Donley, Shane (Martha) Donley and nieces: Kathy (Jerry) Disse, June (Bill) Steffl, Darla (Marvin Sr) Vareberg, Kristi (Dean) DuChene and Andrea (Jim) Lamb along with special great niece and nephews: Kayla Renney, Cody Lyle Tow and Richard Tow and one sister-in-law: Barb Donley. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Orville (Edith), John (Glenise), Glenn and one sister: Irene (Bill) Pitcock.
