Marcus Kuehne

Marcus August Friedrick Kuehne was born August 26, 1923 near Long Prairie, MN to Hugo and Martha (Dehn) Kuehne. He was raised and educated near Long Prairie and entered the U. S. Marine Corps September 16, 1943. He was honorably discharged December 31, 1945. Mark farmed for several years near Wadena, MN. He spent time working as a chef for the Norseman's Lodge, Graystone Hotel and the U. S. Job Corps. He then worked for the Becker County Zoning Administration for 20 years, retiring in 1989. After his retirement, he worked as a custodian for Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes for 10 years and continued doing building inspections for the Veterans Administration until the age of 87. Mark is a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He is past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, has served as an Elder at Zion Lutheran Church, is past president and a charter member of the Northwest Minnesota Chapter of Building Officials. He cherished time with his family and enjoyed living at Little Floyd Lake for 45 years. Mark was united in marriage to Muriel Braa, October 19, 1946. They divorced in October, 1967. He was united in marriage to Mildred Otis, July 30, 1969 in Wadena, MN. Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Detroit Lakes, 5 sons: Dan (Diane), Roy (Sheri), Mike (Diane) all of Detroit Lakes, Randy (Virginia) of San Diego, CA, Keith of Vergas, MN, 7 daughters, Sandi (Curt) Hove of Reiles Acres, ND, Sharon Hanson of Detroit Lakes, Karen (Jim) Hanson of Lewistown, MT, Marcy (Larry) Anderson of Fergus Falls, MN, Renee Shepherds of Minneapolis, MN, Jody Kuehne of Phoenix, AZ, Lori (Randy) Borgen of Moorhead, MN, 30 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, a sister, Lenora Ciaccio of Rockford, IL. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Gail and Christy, a grandson, his parents, 9 brothers and 5 sisters.
