Margaret Anderson

Margaret M. "Miggs" Anderson, 72, Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Fargo, ND, died Monday, November 7 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 12 at the Congregational Church in Detroit Lakes, Reverend Mark Kuether, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call 5:00 – 7:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Friday at the David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Margaret Miller Anderson, known as Miggs, was born September 7, 1939 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Miller and Margaret (Ireland) Langager. She is a 1957 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School. While in high school, she was a lifeguard at the Detroit Lakes City Beach. Following graduation, she attended the University of Minnesota – Morris, St. Cloud State College and Moorhead State College. Miggs was united in marriage to Curt Jones in 1959 in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Detroit Lakes and, after having her children, she worked for the Mahube Community Council. She and Curt later divorced. Miggs was united in marriage to Maynard "Andy" Anderson, August 24, 1979 in Fargo, ND. They made their home in Fargo and spent their summers at the cabin that Andy built on Buffalo Lake north of Detroit Lakes. Miggs was employed as a Social Worker at the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center in Fargo. During that employment, she was nominated as the North Dakota Woman of The Year. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 2002. Andy died October 3, 2011. To Miggs, her family was her number one priority. She also loved rock collecting, being at the old cabin on Buffalo Lake, doing volunteer work at the Tamarack Refuge Visitors Center, baking and cooking for her family and friends and playing softball. Survivors include her children: Scott (Dee) Jones of Lynn Haven, FL, Sandra (Kirk) Mundal of Valley City, ND, Sheri (Mike) Lamb of Fargo, ND, Terry Anderson of Fargo, ND, Rick (Julie) Anderson of Fargo, ND, Randy Anderson of Columbia, MO, 13 grandchildren: Daniel Jones, Jamie, Jessica and Alexander Lamb, Cassandra Mundal, Nicole (Evan) Venable, Matthew, Megan, Blythe and Samantha Anderson, Bryce Mayer, three great-grandchildren: Xavier, Shawn and Madison, a sister: Jean (Russ) Jaramo of Great Falls, MT, a brother: John "Jack" (Dorothy) Langager of Springfield, VA and two sisters-in-law: Judith Anderson of Kansas City, MO and Mary Lee Anderson of Baltimore, MD.
