Margaret Magnan

Margaret Angeline Magnan was born December 17, 1935 in Madison, Minnesota the daughter of John and Margaret “Maggie” (Johnson) Pederson. She passed away November 30, 2020 at Oak Crossing Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

She grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating with the class of 1953. Margaret worked at the Detroit Lakes High School before going on to continue her education.

On October 13, 1956 she was united in marriage to Eugene Magnan at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. To this union two sons were born.

Margaret worked as an underwriter for Continental Insurance Company, working in Fargo and Chicago, Illinois. After her retirement, she and Eugene spent summers at Big Cormorant Lake, and winters in Mesa, Arizona. She was instrumental in organizing the Brays and Mooneys Family Reunions and was into researching the family genealogy.

She enjoyed sewing, spending time at the lake, and researching her Irish and Danish ancestry.

Margaret is survived by her sons: John Magnan; Greg (Gail) Magnan; grandchildren: John Magnan, Ryan Magnan, Josie (Brian) Thull, Emily (Brandon) Bourque; great grandchildren: John and Rex; sister: Agnes Anderson;

She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Maggie; husband Eugene Magnan; siblings: Marie Schermerhorn, Clara Vyborny.
