Martha Happel
March 18, 1920 — January 7, 2009
Martha L. Happel, 88, Audubon, MN, died Wednesday, January 7 at the Frazee (MN) Care Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 12 at First Lutheran Church, Audubon, MN, Reverend David Beety, officiating. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 4:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, January 11 at the First Lutheran Church in Audubon. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Martha L. Moenkedick was born March 18, 1920 in Perham, MN to Henry and Bertha (Niebergal) Moenkedick. She was raised and educated in Perham. Martha was united in marriage to Robert Happel, December 28, 1940 in Perham. They farmed near Perham prior to moving to a farm near Audubon, MN. She worked for Gottenborg Grocery in Audubon for many years. Robert died April 11, 1990.
Martha enjoyed crocheting, dancing, singing and playing the piano.
Survivors include four daughters, Roberta and her husband Orville Dow of Perham, MN, Mary and her husband Curtis Rislund of Audubon, MN, Joyce and her husband Allen Sellers of Lake Park, MN, Paula and her husband Charles Enselman of Eagan, MN; ten grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her huaband, Bob, Martha was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Moenkedick.
