Martha Heisler

Martha Mina Heisler (DeGroat), age 86, of Waubun, MN, passed away at her home on Monday, November 14, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Callaway, MN, with a gathering one hour prior. A visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Martha was born on February 9, 1930, to Wilbur and Mary (Thompson) DeGroat, in Redwood Falls, MN. She attended elementary school in Ogema and graduated from Waubun High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to John Heisler on March 13, 1949, and to that union eight children were born. Martha worked for White Earth R.T.C. for over 20 years as a home health care provider, as manager of White Earth Congregate Housing, and with the summer youth program; she retired in 1997. She loved spending time with her family and going to her children's, grandchildren's, and great grandchildren's sporting events. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She loved to dance and listen to country music, especially the Mexican Hat Dance. She was a lifelong member of the Ogema Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Heisler; her children: Bonnie Badboy of Waubun, Mary (Terry) Dorman of Ogema, Julie (Dan) Steichen of Waubun, Carolyn (Paul) Williams of Ogema, Willie (Char) Heisler of Ogema, Sandra (Paul) Mertens of Ogema, Wilbur (Sue) Heisler of Waubun, and Patti Anderson of Ogema; three sisters, Jenny McArthur of Detroit Lakes, Joyce (Don) Priebe of Fountain, and Sandra Williams of Waubun; 21 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren with another on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Mary; three sisters, Margie Miller, Edna Olson, and Yvonne Green; two brothers, Orin DeGroat, and George DeGroat; two grandsons, Michael Lee Anderson, and Gilbert Duane Iceman; sons-in-law, Ron Spry, and Ken Badboy.
