Marvin Andrews
August 28, 1928 — September 20, 2008
Marvin Lloyd Andrews was born August 28, 1928 in Johnson, MN to John and Rose (Rixe) Andrews. He was raised and educated at Graceville, MN. Following graduation from Graceville High School, he was employed by the First State Bank of Graceville. He served with the U. S. Army in Korea 1950 – 1952. Following his discharge, he worked for the Vergas (MN) State Bank 1952 – 1956. Marvin was united in marriage to Lorraine Bickel Torson January 21, 1956 at Frazee, MN. They moved to Graceville, MN where Marv was an officer and insurance agent at First State Bank. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1981 where he worked for what is now Wells Fargo Bank until retiring in 1994.
Marv is a former member of the First State Bank Board of Directors, the Graceville School Board and the Graceville Nursing Home Board. He is also a member of John Bridges American Legion Post 15.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Detroit Lakes; a son, Steven and his wife Kay Andrews of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Janet and her husband Ross Stark of Jamestown, ND; a step-son Thomas and his wife Karen Torson of Bethel, MN; two step-daughters, Sharon and her husband Ronald Buntje of Appleton, MN, Diane and her husband Ronald Ritter of Chokio, MN; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Jamie Torson.
