Mary Elton

July 24, 1934 — April 20, 2017

Mary was born on July 24, 1934, to George and Phyllis (Blanchard) Cavegn in West Fargo, ND; where she attended school. On December 26, 1952, she married Ole Elton in West Fargo and entered into a life of love and friendship. After College, they moved to Southern California (Anaheim and Placentia) where they spent forty years, less an eight year assignment in the Washington, DC area. They returned to the upper Midwest in 1998, building their home near Detroit Lakes on Cotton Lake. Mary was a person of vibrant energy, an artist and a decorator. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and entertaining. She enjoyed all volunteer work, especially at area hospitals and at church; she spent years as the voluntary manager for St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary in Detroit Lakes. She is survived by her son, Michael of Reedsport, OR; four daughters: Mary (Bobby) Wilkerson of Springfield, OR; Lynn (Rhett) Watson of Camino Island, WA; Kimberly (Ron) Alexander of Corona, CA; and Sandie (Joe) Boyer of Las Vagas, NV; two sisters: Georgina (James) O'Toole of Fergus Falls, MN; and Colleen (Gerald) Rustad of Las Vegas, NV; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren She is preceded in death by her husband, Ole; her parents, George and Phyllis; four brothers, and three sisters.
