Matthew Gibson

Matthew Michael Gibson was born on July 14,2000 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Michael and Heidi (Drewes) Gibson.  He was baptized at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Osage, MN. Matthew went to school in Park Rapids, MN. He played hockey for Park Rapids Senior High and graduated in 2017.  After graduation, he started working for Arvig Communications in the construction department and was currently working there at the time of his passing.

Matthew would light up a room with his smile when he walked in, and always had a hug for everyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially with his friends. He loved being outdoors and hated to be “cooped” up inside.  He would go snowmobiling, goose and duck hunting, fishing, and bonfires with his friends. It didn’t matter what Matthew was doing, as long as he was outside.

Matthew will be greatly missed by his father Michael Gibson; mother Heidi (Greg) Clements; siblings Cory (Ashley) Gibson, Kelsey Gibson (Zachary); niece Brooke Goddard, nephew Bennett Gibson, and niece Aria Thompson; grandparents Darrell (Helen) Drewes, Grandmother Ellen Johnson; girlfriend Morgan Anderson; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by grandparents  Kenneth Gibson, and Duane Johnson; great grandparents George and Emma Drewes and  Albert and Annie Nieminen; and uncle William “Bill” Gibson.
