Mervin K. Sprouls, 63, Dilworth, MN, formerly of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, December 11 at Innovis Health in Fargo. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 17 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, Fr. Jerry Rogers, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. Friends may call 4:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 16 at David-Donehower Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Mervin Keith Sprouls was born June 1, 1945 in Alexandria, MN to Lester and Inez (Faulk) Sprouls. He received his early education in Barrett, MN and moved with his family to Detroit Lakes where he graduated from high school. He served with the U. S. Army and following his discharge, he attended the Wadena Vocational-Technical College Auto Mechanics Program. During his working life, he worked for Schram Brothers Dodge, McDonalds and K-Mart all in Detroit Lakes. Mervin enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Michael, old cars and going out to eat.
Survivors include step-daughters, Kathy (John) Krause of Detroit Lakes, Becky (Richard) Hammon of Moorhead, MN; son, Billy Sprouls of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren, Tina, Jim, Margo, Michael, Hunter and Ellie; four sisters, Elaine Rain of Hopkins, MN, Lou Aastad of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Gail Marquart of Vergas, MN, Bonnie (Verlyn) Borah of Detroit Lakes. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle; brother, Loel; sister, Lorna; brothers-in-law, Jerry Marquart and Howard Lehse; and his parents.
