Michael Lawrence Jackson, age 53, of Ponsford, MN, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at the Old Pine Point School in Ponsford. A visitation will begin at 4:00 pm on Monday, January 22, 2018, at the school, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, and will continue until the time of the funeral. A burial will take place at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church Cemetery in spring.
Mike was born on September 9, 1964, to Lawrence and Jennie (Skippingday) Jackson in Detroit Lakes, MN. He grew up in Ponsford and graduated from Frazee High School in 1983. He then attended the Pipestone Vocational and Technical College, where he studied automotive repair. He went on to work for W.E. Fest, R.D.O during the potato harvest, and as a dishwasher for Schwartzwald Restaurant in Park Rapids.
Mike enjoyed the outdoors and liked camping, fishing, racing, and traveling with his nephews. He also loved to cook. Mike cherished the company of friends and family and raised his nephews, Willis and Dillon, as his own. He will be fondly remembered for his warm nature and infectious smile.
He is survived by his mother Jennie Jackson of Park Rapids, his siblings: Connie Jackson (William White) of Moorhead, MN; LuWanda Jackson of Ponsford, MN; Valerie (Eugene) Eischens of Minneapolis, MN; Terri (Brian) Jackson of White Earth, MN; Shania Jackson of Minneapolis, MN; and William “Billy” Jackson of Brooklyn Park, MN; Herbert Jackson of Bismarck, ND; Debra Jackson of Chaska, MN; Jerry Jackson of Bismarck, ND; special nieces and nephews: Lawrence Jackson of White Earth, MN; Robert Flores and Eva Tellinghuisen both of Park Rapids; and Willis and Dillon both of Ponsford, MN; special cousins: Fabian Pino of Middle Town, CA; Michelle Garcia of Middle Town, CA; and Gina Sims of Middle Town, CA; many nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence; twin brothers, LaVern and Lawrence; a brother, William Jackson; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
