Michael Torvinen, age 64, of rural Waubun passed away on Saturday, June 6th at Essential Health in Detroit Lakes. A memorial service will be on Wednesday, June 10th at the White Earth Congregate, 36647 County Highway 21, Waubun, MN. 56589. Michael was born in Crosby, MN on September 9, 1950 to Vilho and Gladys (Critt) Torvinen. He grew up in the Deerwood/ Crosby area where he attended school. He then joined the Navy where he served until his honorable discharge. After the military he traveled out west doing construction work. Following construction work, he returned to the Crosby area in the late 1980's, where he resided until he moved to White Earth; there he resided until his passing. He loved camping; he spent seven years out at Klinker Lake. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns, and motorcycles. He is survived by his sisters: Ruby (Robert) Peterson of Crosby, Joy Torvinen of DeerCreek, Hope (Steven) Windorski of Deerwood, Opal (Jeff) Robinson of Merrillville, Indiana, Darla Torvinen of New York Mills and Janie (Paul) Stark of Crosby.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father; a sister, Bobbi; and two brothers, Samuel and Daniel.
