Michelle Arlene Morrison was born in Devils Lake, ND to Maynard and Myrtle (Doyle) Morrison and graduated high school at Crookston, MN. Following in her mother’s footsteps she graduated with her B.A. in education from Jamestown College. She began her teaching career in Coon Rapids, MN, where her roommate introduced her to her beloved Bob. She completed her Master’s degree at Moorhead State after moving to Detroit Lakes with her family.
Michelle’s warm, bright smile could make everyone’s day better. Her compassion and great kindness touched so many lives and will be remembered for years to come. Michelle’s energy and passion for life, family, friends and work is admirable and should be strived for by all who have had the incredible fortune to have known her. Michelle will not soon be forgotten, but she will be resting peacefully now and watching over us from above on a beach with Bob sipping a perfectly dry martini.
Michelle was first and foremost a teacher of emotionally and behaviorally challenged students at the Detroit Lakes Middle school. Michelle was an active participant of the Becker County United Way, a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization of Detroit Lakes, a member of the Damiens of Detroit Lakes, she participated with the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life of Becker County. She was also involved in Hospice of The Red River Valley in Detroit Lakes, and has been an active supporter and donator to both the Detroit Lakes swimming program and Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics among many other charities.
Michelle will be remembered and deeply missed by her two daughters: Kristin Harris of San Francisco, CA and Heather (Brett) Bridgeman of Detroit Lakes, her mother Myrtle Morrison of Grand Forks, one sister Karen (John) Tankersley of Grand Forks along with her twin brother Michael (Sunny) Morrison of Anchorage, AK and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband and soul mate, Bob and her father Maynard Morrison.
Thank you all for your continued generous thoughts, prayers and support over the years and especially over the last month while she fought a courageous battle against colon cancer.
