Muriel Aarnes

Muriel C. Aarnes, 93, Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Crookston, MN, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Muriel Caroline Aarnes was born April 25, 1916 in Gully, MN to Walter and Clara (Paulson) Ohm. She was raised and educated in Gully. Muriel was united in marriage to Carl Aarnes in 1936 in Crookston, MN. They lived in Crookston until moving to Oregon in 1940. They returned to Crookston in 1947 where she worked for many years for Bridgeman Creameries.

Together, they moved to Mill Lake near Detroit Lakes in 1970 and into the community of Detroit Lakes in 1975. Carl died in 1992 and Muriel moved to Lamplighter Manor in 1999.

Muriel enjoyed reading, trips to the casino and Dave #1, the limo driver.

Survivors include a Daughter, Carlene Wood of Detroit Lakes, 2 Grandchildren: Bruce Radi of Seattle, WA and Tammy (Dave) Nelson of Frisco, Colorado; 2 Great- Grandchildren: Jeff Nelson of Denver, CO and Christine (Tracy) Goetlt of North Branch, MN; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren: Elayne, Gavin and Aaron Goetlt.

In addition to her husband, Carl, she was preceded in death by an infant Son: Richard, her Parents, 2 Grandsons: Ron and Charles Radi, 2 Brothers: Ralph and Mervin Ohm and her Sister: Caroline Ohm. David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family. Memories may be shared at www.daviddonehower.com .
