Myrtle Johnson

Myrtle J. Johnson, 78, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, April 8 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral Services for Myrtle will be held Saturday, April 16 at 1:30 PM in David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be made in Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes. Myrtle Joan (Klemetson) Johnson was born on January 30, 1938 in Lake Park, Minnesota to Joseph & Ella Klemetson. She attended school in Atlanta Township until she finished 8th grade. She graduated from high school in Ulen, Minnesota. She married the love of her life, LeRoy Johnson, in Detroit Lakes on December 14, 1957. They made their home in Lake Eunice Township where they raised five children. Myrtle worked many years for Swifts Turkey Processing Plant. In the more recent years she worked at



K-Mart and at the time of her death she was a Greeter at Wal-Mart. She enjoyed her flower gardens, feeding and watching the birds at all times, and in the winter she fed deer in her yard so she could watch them from her living room window. Myrtle also enjoyed a good book. Myrtle is survived by five children; two sons Robert (Nancy) Johnson and Larry (Barb) Johnson both of Detroit Lakes; three daughters, Bonnie Johnson, and Wanda (Lee) Herringer, both of Detroit Lakes, and Darlene Johnson of Rothsay; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest (Adeline) Klemetson and one sister, Evelyn (Clayton) Hoebelheinrich. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, LeRoy (November 2015) and her parents Joseph and Ella Klemetson.
