Nancy Ruth Wickstrom was born September 21, 1917 in Kensal, ND to Ella Morris. Six weeks later, she was adopted by Fred and Maud Wickstrom of Detroit Lakes. She was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1936. In 1941 she graduated from business college in Pasadena, CA.
Nancy was united in marriage to Lavern J. Gremminger June 29, 1944 in Renton, WA. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She liked gardening, crocheting, embroidery, rock picking, puzzle books and was an avid reader of novels. In 1962, they moved to Detroit Lakes where they lived on a hobby farm 5 miles south of town. In 1968 they started Meadow Lake Camp Ground. Nancy & Lavern traveled throughout the United States spending their winters in California, Arizona, Texas and Washington. Lavern died February 18, 1997.
Nancy is survived by four daughters: Irene and her husband James Hazelton of Callaway, MN, Kathy and her husband Ron Suttell of Tacoma, WA, Jeanette and her husband David Hinjosa of Phoeniz, AZ, Sharon and her pets, Taylor and Sadie of Detroit Lakes, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a sister, Marie Groskreutz of Salt Lake City, Utah, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death a son, Frederick, her parents, and a brother, Max Wickstrom.
