Neil Allen Berger was born September 9, 1958 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Ignatius and Georgia (Mayfield) Berger. He was raised in rural Frazee and attended Frazee Public School. Neil was united in marriage to Jeri LaVon Pickett September 17, 1977 at Richwood Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes. He served with the Detroit Lakes Unit of the National Guard 1981 – 1987. During his working life, Neil held several positions including having worked for Newman’s Manufacturing, Paradise’ Mail Service, Kellen Farms, Marona Construction, Hoff Farms and, for the past 9 years, was employed with the National Park Service in Yellowstone National Park at Grant Village, WY.
He enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, traveling, snowmobiling and fishing.
Survivors include his wife: Jeri LaVon Berger of Grant Village, WY, three sons: Chad of Erskine, MN, Travis of Rochert, MN and Jason (Jackie) Bolstad-Berger of Fargo, ND;
two grandchildren: Claudia Berger and Rylee Bolstad; three sisters: Patricia (Bill) Schnieder of Bemidji, MN, Rita (Arville) Thompson of Brookings, SD, Susan (Rodney) Winters of Detroit Lakes, MN; five brothers: Roger (Irene) of Anoka, MN, John (Kathy) of Perham, MN, Stanley of Rochert, MN, Michael (Jeannie) of Giddings, TX and Mark (Dana) of Rochert, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul.
