Neil P. Boutiette, 73, Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Frazee, MN, died Thursday, November 3 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee, Fr. Xavier Ilango, officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee with Military Rites provided by the Lake Region Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call 4:00 - 8:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Sunday at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes and at the church 1 hour prior to the mass on Monday.
Neil Paul Boutiette was born February 2, 1938 in Breckenridge, MN to Leo and Clarice (Prody) Boutiette. He was raised and received his early education at Kent, MN. He attended St. John's Prep School at Collegeville, MN and graduated high school at Breckenridge, MN in 1956. He entered the U. S. Air Force 1956 and, following his discharge in 1966, he attended Moorhead State College in Moorhead, MN, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Neil was united in marriage to Arvilla Lewis June 1, 1957 in Denver, CO. They moved to Frazee, MN in 1970 and Neil taught school at Lincoln Elementary School in Detroit Lakes and at Callaway Elementary School in Callaway, MN. In 1978 he began working for the U. S. Postal Service in Willmar, MN and then transferring to Detroit Lakes in 1980. He retired in 1992 and sold real estate for Pawlak Realty in Park Rapids and Leach Lake Realty in Walker, MN.
Neil enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren, deer hunting, ice fishing buying and selling real estate and delivering meals on wheels. He was a member of John Bridges Post 15, American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Arvilla of Detroit Lakes, five children: Mark (Judy) of W. Fargo, ND, Teresa (Terry) Johnson of Vergas, MN, Greg (Cheryl) of W. Fargo, ND, Brad (Bev) of Perham, MN, Nicole (Paul) Nickolauson of Bismarck, ND, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three sisters: Renea (Don) Rettig of Mesa, AZ, Denise (Chuck) Krabbenhoft of Sabin, MN, Joanie (Mark) Ward of Wahpeton, ND, two brothers: Paul (Mel)of Glasgow, KY, Gary of Kent, MN and his faithful dog, Lily.
