Nila Jean Brice, known as “Mickey”, was born to William and Ingaborg (Erickson) Brice in April 27, 1935 in Cloquet, Minnesota. She grew up in the Cloquet area where she attended school. She met Eugene “Orrin” Laverne Saeland and they married on October 7, 1957 in Cloquet. They lived in the Cloquet area until moving to Mahnomen, MN and raising their six children. Nila devoted her time to being a mother and homemaker.
In 1980, Nila moved to Detroit Lakes, MN where she worked as a daycare provider from 1981 until retiring in 1996. Nila met Julius “Bill” Fleischman in 1984 and they were married March 1, 1997 in Detroit Lakes. Bill passed away December 3, 1999.
Nila belonged to the VFW ladies auxiliary. She enjoyed working with children, reading, listening to country music, word find puzzles, the special times at Christmas with her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nile is survived by six children, Lori (Loren) Nelson of Detroit Lakes, Mark Saeland and his fiancé, Rebecca Meader of Warroad, MN, Cheryl (Floyd) Schultz of Osage, MN, Kelly (Tim) Conklin of Detroit Lakes, Kandy (Jeff) Conklin of Detroit Lakes, Vickie Saeland (Ronald Schultz) of Frazee, MN; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Brice of Burlington, IA; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to husbands, Eugene and Bill, Nila was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Joshua Morely; three brothers, Kenneth, James and Charles Brice; two sisters, Karen Brice and Dorothy Raisanen.
