Norma Coleman

Norma P. Coleman, 95, Black Duck, MN, formerly of Cormorant, MN, died Sunday, December 5 at St. Mary's-Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes, MN. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 10 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in rural Audubon, MN, Reverend Paul Peterson, officiating. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Audubon, MN. Friends may call 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes and at the church 1 hour prior to the service on Friday. Norma Pearl Coleman was born November 1, 1915 in Audubon, MN to Albert and Carrie (Rasmussen) Bakken. She was raised and educated in Audubon. While a young woman, she moved to Duluth, MN where she worked as a housekeeper and later in the housekeeping department for a Duluth hospital. She moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked for Honeywell Company as an assembly operator for 29 years.

Norma was united in marriage to Kenneth Coleman April 18, 1959 in Minneapolis. Following her retirement from Honeywell, she and Ken managed two different apartment complexes until Ken retired from Honeywell. They then farmed near Cable, WI for 10 years prior to moving to rural Cormorant for the next 10 years. They moved to Black Duck, MN in 2003 and Norma entered Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lake, November 1, 2010. Norma enjoyed baking, fishing, traveling and her job and coworkers at Honeywell. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ken of Black Duck, MN, and a brother: Enoch (Darlene) Bakken of Detroit Lakes. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Joe, Bennie, Jacob, Sylas, and Ardon Bakken and two sisters; Myrtle Ramsey and Ethel Newstrom.
