Norma J. Misson, 84, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, January 2, 2015 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Norma (Anderson) Misson was born on May 15, 1930 to Arthur and Kathryn (Regan) Anderson in Crookston, MN. She grew up there and graduated from Cathedral High School. Norma was united in marriage to Irwin Misson on April 19, 1949 at the Cathedral in Crookston. They farmed in the Mentor area until 1956 when they moved to Detroit Lakes. In 1962, they moved to Pembina, ND. Irwin passed away on July 6, 1967.
Norma began her career with the Federal Government in 1970, working for the U.S. Postal Service in Pembina. In 1977, she began working for U.S. Customs Service as an Import Specialist and remained in their employment until her retirement in July of 1994. Norma moved to Fargo in 1995 and then to Detroit Lakes in 2012. Norma was an active member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Pembina for over 30 years, volunteering and teaching CCD. Norma was also involved in the Homemaker's Club, Cub Scouts, PTA and 4-H. In Fargo, Norma was a Charter Member of Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church for seven years. In 2012, Norma became a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. Norma is survived by four sons: Mitchell of Pembina, ND, Frederick (Jana) of Vergas, Jack (Kathy) of Detroit Lakes, Patrick (Dani) of Key Largo, FL, three daughters: Jeanne (Jon) Barron of New Brighton, MN, Rebecca (Barry) Fife of DePere, WI and Marie (Richard) Staskivige of Portland, ND. In addition she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren along with one sister: Kate Thompson of Fargo, one brother: Harold (Bonnie) Anderson of Fergus Falls/Vergas, MN and and many nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; Arthur and Kathryn Anderson, husband: Irwin Misson, daughter-in-law: Loann (Bergh) Misson and brothers: Ralph Anderson and Richard Anderson.
