Ole Elton

Ole LaVerne Elton, known as "Red" was born August 13, 1933 near Carrington, ND to Carl and Ethel (Hightower) Elton. He completed his first five years of education in Carrington and moved with his family to West Fargo where he graduated from high school in 1950. He served with the U. S. Air Force 1950 – 1954. Following his discharge, he attended North Dakota State University in Fargo earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. On December 26, 1952, Red entered into a life of marriage, love and friendship with Mary Cavegn in West Fargo. Following graduation, they moved to Anaheim and then Placentia, California where Red enjoyed a 30 year career with North American Aviation which became Rockwell International. Eight of those years were spent on assignment in the Washington, DC area. He often remarked that every job and every home were wonderful experiences. Following his retirement in 1989, Red began a new vocation as a student of religious education, which culminated in his becoming an ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church on June 21, 2003. He served in this capacity at the catholic communities in Detroit Lakes, Hawley, and Lake Park, MN until the time of his death. Red and Mary moved from California to rural Rochert, Minnesota where they built their home on Cotton Lake. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary of Rochert, a son, Michael (Lorna "Charlie") of Rochert, four daughters: Mary (Bobby) Wilkerson of Springfield, OR, Lynn (Rhett) Watson of Camano Island, WA, Kimberly (Ron) Alexander of Corona, CA, Sandie (Joe) Boyer of Rochert, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Dee (Morris) Sousa of Phelan, CA and Connie (Bill) Brummet of Corona, CA
