Oliver R. Donner, 78, Ogema, MN, died Monday, July 20 at St. Mary’s-Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ogema, Reverend Del Stohs, officiating. Interment will be in the Ogema Community Cemetery in Ogema. Friends may call 4:00 – 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Thursday July 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ogema. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Oliver Roy Donner was born August 11, 1930 in Spring Creek Township, rural Ogema, MN to Charles and Bertha (Bullert) Donner. He was raised and educated in Spring Creek Township. Oliver was united in marriage with Emily Krupicka April 10, 1949 in Ogema. They farmed in Spring Creek Township until moving to Maple Grove Township of rural Ogema in 1971. In addition to farming, Oliver also worked as a carpenter in the Ogema area.
Oliver served for many years on the Maple Grove Township Board; did surveys for the ASCS Office and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Oliver treasured the time he spent with his family; was an avid fisherman and hunter; and loved to tinker. He was known as a man who could fix anything.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Emily of Ogema; seven children: James (Janet) of Ogema; Ronald of Hawley, MN; Gary of Ogema; Julie (George) Hamer of Brookings, SD; Bruce of Ogema; Jeff (Joni) of Graham, WA and Brian (Shannon) of Ogema; 14 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin; two grandsons: Scott and Todd; his parents; a brother, Charles and an infant sister, Louise.
